Total Emissions
The UK's total greenhouse-gas emissions each year: greenhouse gases are the gases that warm the planet, mainly CO2, and this counts those released inside the UK, measured in MtCO2e (million tonnes of CO2-equivalent). The legal baseline is 1990's 793 MtCO2e. When emissions fall the country is decarbonising towards its legal net-zero target; when they rise it drifts off that path.
