Waiting List
The number of people waiting to start planned hospital treatment in England, known as the referral-to-treatment (RTT) list. It counts incomplete pathways rather than individuals, so someone waiting for two separate treatments appears twice. When the list grows, more people are waiting for care they have been referred for; when it shrinks, the backlog of planned treatment is easing.
