New State Pension
The full new State Pension in cash per week, paid to those reaching pension age from April 2016 onwards. It replaced the older basic-plus-additional system with a single flat-rate payment. It is uprated by the 'triple lock', the highest of inflation, average earnings growth or 2.5%. Because so many people receive it, each rise adds substantially to public spending.
